Increasing farmer resilience to mitigate climate change

Our farmer engagement programmes support participating farmers to adopt regenerative agricultural practices which contribute to increase yields and optimise agrochemical usage, thus increasing income and improving livelihoods. This will reduce the need to use more land, helping prevent deforestation.

Farmer programmes

Farmer programmes help build farmer resilience to climate impact and reduce environmental footprint. Our work with farmers includes support on reducing fertiliser needs, increasing yields, supporting targeted irrigation practices where there is water scarcity, and improving coffee plant resilience through our work with World Coffee Research.

We believe that coffee, globally, can be grown in a NetZero way by 2050 – balancing emissions produced with emissions removed – if we work together as a sector.

We are driving change to help achieve this, setting targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to reduce emissions across scopes 1, 2 and 3.
